The Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands (CEMML) is a research, education and service unit within the Warner College of Natural Resources at Colorado State University (CSU). CEMML applies the latest and most appropriate science to promote the sustainable management of natural and cultural resources on Department of Defense (DoD) and other public lands. We provide technical support, conduct applied research, and offer career development and learning opportunities to support resource stewardship. Position Summary:
The Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands is seeking applicants for a Land Rehabilitation and Maintenance (LRAM) Coordinator located at Army Support Activity (ASA) Fort Dix, New Jersey.
The LRAM coordinator will address current and future program goals and objectives, project execution, and budgets. Fieldwork will be executed throughout the year. Projects are iterative and require coordination with multiple installation offices. LRAM projects require: (1) Developing and documenting in the Integrated Training Area Management (ITAM) Plan, land management objectives that address specific landscape conditions and mission requirements, (2) Identifying and prioritizing repair, maintenance, and reconfiguration projects and detailing those projects as activities in the ITAM Workplan (3) Developing initial/planning level project designs and specifications and documenting those designs and specifications in the ITAM Workplan, (4) Coordinating and conducting project planning fieldwork with ITAM staff, Range Operations Staff, and Department of Public Works (DPW) personnel (Natural and Cultural Resources; Environmental Compliance; Real Property); (5) Preparing and coordinating projects for the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), permits and approvals in cooperation with the DPW; and (6) Acquiring and maintaining materials, equipment, and supplies.
ASA Fort Dix is part of Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst in the New Jersey Pine Barrens. ASA Dix supports and conducts Reserve Component Training, Mobilization/Demobilization operations, and facilitates the well-being of soldiers, their families, and civilians in a safe and secure environment. ASA Dix plans and executes other Army-directed support missions, and, on order, establishes and operates a Joint Mobilization site.

Required Job Qualifications:
• The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States by the proposed start date. CEMML will not provide visa sponsorship for this position.
• Must have a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain a driver’s license by the employment start date. A valid driver’s license must be maintained for continued employment.
• BA/BS in Forestry, Natural Resources, Range Science, Agricultural Sciences or other applied area plus at least three years’ experience in land restoration/rehabilitation; an MA/MS in a related area plus 1 year of professional experience can be substituted for BA/BS and 3 years experience.
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, regulations and requirements regarding environmental protections (e.g., Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, Migratory Bird Treaty Act, NEPA, etc.)
• Experience in ArcGIS 10.6+
• Experience with global positioning systems (GPS).
• Experience working with permitting processes.
• Experience conducting site surveys and making recommendations for site improvements.
• Experience developing specifications for land restoration/rehabilitation projects, documenting project needs, executing projects, and overseeing their execution.
• Awareness of best management practices for New Jersey or similar areas.
• Experience preparing project design information and support documentation for outside review.
• Able to work under extreme weather conditions, lift 50 pounds repeatedly, and walk for long periods on unequal ground
• Experienced with hand tools which can include axes, rakes, shovels, brush cutters, machetes, and saws
Preferred Job Qualifications:
• Experienced in field data collection.
• Experience with rehabilitation efforts with soils similar to those found at ASA Dix (e.g., sand to sandy-loam).
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Experience with computers, including conventional business software.
• Experience working on military installations.
• Experience with the U.S. Army’s Sustainable Range Program and the Integrated Training Area Management or similar programs.
• Experience working with/coordination with federal agencies.
• Current CDL Class A or B, or the ability and willingness to obtain a valid CDL within one year of employment
• Experience with heavy equipment.
Condition of Employment:
Pre-employment Criminal Background Check (required for new hires), Valid Driver’s License, Special Requirements/Other - Must be able to comply with all applicable regulations to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC). Furthermore, candidates are required at a minimum to complete a NACI/SF85 and successfully pass a federal background check to remain eligible for employment.
