For The Win, part of the USA TODAY NETWORK, is seeking a qualified candidate to serve as the brand’s Senior Editor.
The ideal candidate should be an experienced writer and editor who feels comfortable at the intersection of sports and internet and helping FTW’s staff produce quality storytelling across multiple platforms. The position demands creativity, organization and leadership skills and will report directly to FTW’s Managing Editor.
Responsibilities:
Maintain a content calendar for on-site content, video, audio and other platforms as needed.
Help lead topical and event-driven planning meetings and manage content budgets and deadlines accordingly.
Help develop and implement a FTW style guide.
Manage 2-3 staff writers and help shape their content and storytelling skills.
Read/edit posts as needed.
Requirements:
Bachelor's or master’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing or related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
5+ years of experience as a writer for a national outlet, preferably in the digital space.
2+ years of experience as an editor for a national outlet, preferably in the digital space.
Willingness to work a flexible schedule as needed to accommodate our publishing schedule and event coverage.
Passion for sports and sports culture.
A thorough understanding of FTW’s voice and how it should translate across all platforms.
