Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Coordinator III, Workforce Grants performs and supports the post-award Program, Financial and Budget requirements and activities to comply with Uniform Guidance, government and LSC rules and regulations. Performs comprehensive detailed analyses and monitoring of grant expenditures for “allowability” and recovery to LSC from grantor agencies. Manages the programmatic oversight of the grant awards and works closely with program managers to ensure grant deliverables are being met. Serves as a financial point of contact for grant program teams for al Workforce Grants under the Office of External & Employer Relations.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  1. Apply comprehensive knowledge of federal, state and local grantor agency and regulatory compliance requirements, and LSC policies in order to provide regular subject matter expertise to LSC grant program teams
  2. Coordinates and leads meetings through the grant award life cycle, collaborating with LSC grant program team to design and continuously monitor project costing and budget tracking for complex, rule-driven grant awards to maximize utilization of the grant's monetary award
  3. Performs research relevant to Workforce Grants. Develops, monitors and maintains a variety of spreadsheets, databases and reports and presents findings to internal/external constituents (may include LSC Managers/Executives, community members, and/or outside groups and organizations). Perform real-time comprehensive data analysis and detailed evaluation of grant award expenditures in the General Ledger
  4. Responsible for completing monthly, quarterly, biannually, and program close-out reports, such as gathering and reviewing time and efforts, preparing and submitting journal entries, and verifying all expenditures are allowable on grant awards and are in line with grant contract deliverables and expectations. Works closely with Grants Accounting in continuously monitoring budget expenditures and overall spend to ensure goals and objectives are being met
  5. Actively monitor awards and sub-recipient agreements while simultaneously liaising with LSC grant program team for compliance with grant award specifications and required documentation
  6. Complete accurate and timely detailed expenditure and other financial regulatory reports as provided and required by grantor agencies for award tracking and cash reimbursement to LSC
  7. Research and provide supporting documentation for both internal/external desk review and audits for workforce grants
  8. Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Broad knowledge of general accounting principles, practices and procedures
  • Excellent knowledge of PC's and related software
  • Excellent verbal and written interpersonal and communication skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to cope with several tasks simultaneously
  • Must be deadline oriented
  • Initiative and analytical skills are mandatory
  • Knowledge of ERP system applications, modules and functionality, e.g. PeopleSoft, Oracle, SAP or equivalent ERP system
  • Ability to analyze data and interpret detailed information and convert to knowledge-based reports and recommendations
PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:
  • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, phone and other general office equipment
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards
  • Periodic travel to LSC campus locations
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree and at least 1 year of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with an accounting emphasis
    • Experience with querying systems and databases
    • Experience with financial audits
Salary

Hiring salary range is $48,152 - $55,375

Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all posted full-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fall in that range is determined by your related experience and education.
