Description: The Omenn-Darling Bioengineering Institute at Princeton University invites applications for new faculty positions in the area of Bioengineering, at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank. We welcome applications from all areas of experimental and theoretical/computational bioengineering. We particularly encourage candidates whose work includes aspects of Device Bioengineering, including but not limited to the development and implementation of approaches that interface with living systems through novel materials and algorithms, electric and magnetic fields, ultrasound, optics and targeted radiation, microfluidics, controlled force sensing and actuation and related tools for probing and controlling biomolecular systems, cells, and tissues. Another area of interest is Computational Bioengineering, including but not limited to synthetic and chemical biology approaches to cellular computation and biomolecular logic design, the development and implementation of novel algorithms, machine learning for parsing biological data sets (genomics, proteomics, imaging, neuroscience), bioinformatics, molecular dynamics simulations, and related areas at the interface of computer/data science and the life sciences. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Chemistry, Neuroscience, Quantitative Biology or related disciplines, and have a demonstrated record of excellence and leadership in research, commensurate with career stage. We seek faculty members who will be instrumental to creating an ecosystem of excellence and diversity, with a strong commitment to teaching and mentoring. We welcome applications from members of all underrepresented groups. Princeton recently announced the launch of the Omenn-Darling Bioengineering Institute, bringing together a strong group of faculty engaged in Bioengineering-related research, distributed in all engineering departments, particularly Chemical & Biological Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering, and Electrical and Computer Engineering. These ongoing efforts also build on Princeton's historical strengths in interdisciplinary biology, focused in the departments of Molecular Biology and Ecology & Evolutionary Biology, together with the Lewis Sigler Institute for Integrative Genomics, and the Princeton Neuroscience Institute. Faculty hired into the Omenn-Darling Bioengineering Institute will be jointly appointed with another home department or academic unit, determined through the application review process. We seek creative and enthusiastic candidates with the background and skills to build upon and complement existing strengths and help expand Princeton's Bioengineering program into new and exciting research areas. Review of applications will begin on November 15, 2023. Applicants should submit online at https://puwebp.princeton.edu/AcadHire/position/32085 a curriculum vitae, a list of publications and presentations, a 3-5 page summary of research accomplishments and future plans, a 1-2 page teaching statement, and contact information for three references. Candidates are welcome to describe how their experiences and approaches on diversity-related issues inform their professional work, such as in scholarship, teaching and advising. This position is subject to the University's background check policy.
