The Department of Early and Elementary Education (DEEE) in the Seidel School of Education is accepting applications for the position of Assistant or Associate Professor of Early Childhood EducationThis is a tenure-track position (10 months).

Area of Specialization: Early Childhood Education

Primary Job Duties: The Department of Early and Elementary Education invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor of Early Childhood Education, starting August 2024. The successful candidate will teach courses in the Early Childhood Education program such as early childhood education methods and may teach other courses as needed in the Department based on the candidate’s areas of expertise.

In addition to teaching within the Department, the successful candidate will disseminate scholarship; participate in the Professional Development Schools partnership; commit to university, professional and/or community service; advise teacher candidates;  engage with the Department in program assessment; collaborate with early childhood professionals to foster strong community relationships; and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills necessary for working collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, and external constituents. 

Minimum Qualifications: The successful candidate will have an early childhood education (ages 0-8) background. A terminal degree in early childhood education or related field focused on early childhood education through coursework and/or dissertation completed by the time of the official contract start date. (ABDs will be considered.)  We seek a dedicated, innovative, and collaborative professional with a strong background in early childhood and child development. A minimum of 3 years of teaching ages 0-8 experience is required.

Preferred Qualifications: The preferred qualifications include the following: teaching experience in grades PK-3, clinical field supervision experience, experience working with diverse student population, technology integration in teaching and learning, and program assessment.
