Job Summary

This is a PTNTT faculty position.  salary will be comensurate with qualifications and experience.

This is a fully grant funded, 12-month shared, contractual position with teaching assignments ranging from two to three days per week part time (50% effort) clinical faculty position in the School of Nursing (SON). All teaching is in the undergraduate program and is focused on the accelerated program allowing students with a previous bachelor’s degree to graduate with a BSN in 12 months.

Area of Specialization: Psych Mental Health

Primary Job Duties/Responsibilities: teach undergraduate students in psych mental health course which may include participation in simulation and laboratory-based learning as well as didactic classroom teaching.   Employ a variety of innovative teaching techniques in the clinical setting to promote critical thinking, clinical competency, and achieve course outcomes. Design clinical learning experiences that reflect evidence-based approaches to instruction. Engage in scholarship and professional development, serve on departmental committees, advise students, and participate in University activities.  Utilize effective teaching and classroom management strategies that enhance the success of diverse learners.

Authority and Accountability

This position reports to Dr. Debra Webster, Director in the SON and PI for the Fast Track to a BSN Degree Grant. There is no budgetary responsibility or authority for this position.

Required/Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in nursing. Eligible to practice as a registered nurse in Maryland.  Two years full-time clinical nursing practice experience as a registered nurse. 

Preferred Qualifications

Preference given to those with a Master’s degree in nursing and/or clinical teaching experience at the baccalaureate level.  Background in evidence-based practice in inpatient psychiatric mental health nursing desired.  Certification relevant to the clinical area to be taught preferred.
