Primary Job Duties: Under general supervision, this position supervises a group of housekeepers in housekeeping operations to ensure the cleanliness, orderliness, and attractive conditions of building interiors. May be required to move furniture and equipment. This position is expected to report to work in emergency situations such as extreme weather conditions when the campus may be closed.

This position reports to one of the evening Housekeeping Chiefs. Current direct reports include 4 PIN Housekeepers and 3 Housekeeping Assistants. The position has no budgetary responsibility or authority.

Minimum Qualifications: Three years of progressive supervisory experience in housekeeping. High school diploma and experience in an institutional, educational, or industrial setting preferred.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: High school diploma or GED preferred. Three years’ experience in housekeeping in a lead or supervisory capacity. Candidates selected for employment may be subject to medical inquiries and/or a medical examination to determine the ability to perform the job. Must have a valid driver’s license with fewer than five points. General knowledge of the procedures, equipment, and supplies used in housekeeping. Skill in the use and maintenance of housekeeping tools and equipment; in the selection and application of housekeeping chemicals and supplies; in providing guidance and training to others. Ability to plan and supervise the work of housekeeping personnel; to estimate supply and equipment needs; to read, write, and perform arithmetic calculations; to operate assigned tools and housekeeping equipment; to work with chemicals and cleaning solutions; to understand and follow oral and written instructions; to lift and transport supplies and refuse; to wear and work in personal protective equipment. Must be able to lift 30 lbs. and perform the following: walking, stooping, reaching, kneeling, climbing, standing, repetitive motion, twisting, bending, pushing, pulling, and crawling.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience with the entire Microsoft Suite preferred.

The position is full-time, non-exempt State positions with full benefits. Starting salary will be $16.87 per hour which is approximately $35,186 annually with a 2.5% increase after satisfactorily completing a six-month probationary period. The primary schedule associated with this position is Monday – Friday 4:00pm-12:30am, with occasional weekends required. The shift associated with these positions are eligible for shift differential of an additional $1.20 per hour.  This position is also considered essential meaning the position is expected to report for work in emergency situations such as extreme weather conditions when the campus may be closed.
