Job Summary
Typical projects may include, dependent upon educational
background and career motivation:
• Conducting scientific, market, prior art, and patent search and analysis
• Assessing t he commercial viability of new inventions through market research and competitive analysis
• Identifying potential licensees or inventors
• Developing marketing materials
• Assisting with the management of a patent docket, including creating useful patent data and analytics for the office
• Collecting royalty rate research and developing preliminary valuation models
• Assisting in the review of agreements for contract management and organization
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
Applicants with a clinical, scientific, technical, business or law background are
encouraged to apply. The following will be considered to be preferred experience:
• Completion of MKT 601: Marketing Research
• Completion of MKT 624: Entrepreneurship and Business Startups
• Completion of LAW 801: Contracts I
• Completion of LAW 802: Contract II
• Completion of LAW 934: Patent Law
• Completion of LAW 935: Intellectual Property
• Completion of LAW 936: Intellectual Property Transactions
• Participation in the Scholars in Engineering & Management ( SEAM) Program
• Participation in the Biopharmaceutical Engineering Track Program
• Participation in the UK Entrepreneurs Club
• Participation in Wildcat Investors
• Participation in campus business plan competitions
• Participation in the Intellectual Property Society
• Participation in the Business Law Society
