The Department of Africana Studies at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for an Associate or Full Professor with expertise in Afro-Latinx Studies and/or Black Migrants in the United States. Areas of specialization may include Community Development, Education, Sociolinguistics, Environmental Policy, Health and Health Care Policy, Labor and Income Inequality, Civil Rights and Law, Child and family, or Social Welfare Policy. We seek a colleague, pursuing research agendas aligned with our concentrations on Migration & Community Transformation, Race and Equity, and Culture and Creative Production. The incoming faculty member will also have the opportunity to serve as the faculty Director of the university-wide Center for Ethnic Studies Research (www.ucis.pitt.edu/cesr). Now in its third year, CESR’s mission is to advance innovative multidisciplinary and collaborative research addressing core communities central to ethnic studies from local, regional, comparative, and transnational perspectives. During the time of appointment as center director (typically 6 years), the teaching load will be reduced and additional compensation will be provided.

Minimum qualifications: Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Africana Studies or a related field.
