Interventionist

The University of Pittsburgh's Department of Medicine's Center for Research on Health Care is looking for a qualified interventionist for two large research projects within the Tailored Retention and Engagement for Equitable Treatment of OUD and Pain (TREETOP) research center. The interventionist will facilitate implementation of the behavioral support intervention and support provider education in the flexible buprenorphine dosing procedures.

In Aim 1 of the TREETOP Engagement and Retention studies, we are developing PSM-OUD and PSM-OBAT using intervention mapping, a systematic, theory-based qualitative approach to tailoring interventions (e.g., PSM) to new populations (e.g., people with OUD, individuals in rural areas). We are using Health Equity Implementation Framework to investigate potential implementation barriers and facilitators across our sites, so that we develop the intervention to specifically enhance sustained implementation in disproportionately impacted rural communities.

In Aim 2 of the TREETOP Engagement and Retention studies, we will be testing the effectiveness and implementation barriers and facilitators of PSM-OUD, an intervention that was developed for primary care patients with chronic pain and opioid use disorder chronic, and PSM-OBAT, an intervention that was developed for individuals with chronic pain and OUD receiving office-based addiction treatment.

This interventionist will be responsible for scheduling and conducting the Aim 2 interventions with patient participants who are randomized to the intervention condition and to deliver the standardized protocol in individual sessions as defined by the intervention protocol. They will conduct other intervention activities as needed. The interventionist will be trained by the TREETOP Investigative Team on the intervention protocol. Additionally, the interventionist may be required to send prior authorization requests and other communications to insurance companies.

The incumbent will work closely with the investigators and study team members to carry out the intervention. The interventionist will participate in weekly calls with the central project manager and administrative director to communicate study progress, address concerns, and discuss any new or outstanding issues.

This position requires excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of individuals and constituencies. Ability to multi-task, extremely organized and very detail oriented.
