Duties: Reports to the Athletic Director in cooperation with the Principal; represents Vineland Public Schools and its football program in a professional manner; manages the overall football program; recruits within the school; makes scheduling recommendations; abides by NFHS and NJSIAA rules and regulations; manages and supervises football activities including practices and games; uses a variety of instructional techniques to
teach and improve abilities of student-athletes; promotes individual player growth in athletic skills, teamwork, discipline, respect and good sportsmanship; coordinates the promotion and development of the football program; encourages potential athletes to participate in football; works with educators to plan and put into place instructional goals and objectives to ensure overall academic progress of the student-athletes;
ensures that football coaching staff works together toward common goals; establishes a presence within community youth football programs; develops and implements suitable game strategies; monitors safety and procedures for all team trips away from school property; oversees maintenance of all team equipment and uniforms; follows established procedures for addressing student injuries; assists student-athletes with
college recruitment; promotes the program by communicating with the media, booster clubs, and parent organizations; develops and maintains professional relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and school administration; oversees maintenance of eligibility and compliance records; related duties.
Requirements: New Jersey public school teaching certification. Three years of football coaching experience. Ability to relate to student-athletes while teaching them on and off of the field. Extensive knowledge of current coaching techniques and procedures. Strong communication skills. Excellent organizational skills. Ability to balance motivational intensity with professional calmness. Mastery of NFHS and NJSIAA football rules and
points of emphasis.
